Thank you, Dr. Ferdinand, once again.
Will do. In process of registering for 9-7-07 1200 right now. I was amazed that all spots were taken, even 9-8-07, except at the date above. I am going to start pouring over Biology weak areas on the diagnostic like I did with the physical sciences.

HI EVERYONE,
HERE ARE MY SCORES:
GS-1 P8 V7 B9 => 24
GS-2 P9 V6 B10 => 24
GS-3 P11 V5 B 11=>27
AND TODAY:
AAMC 5R (LONG PF FORMAT)
PH:12, VR:8, BS 12 =32
Comments:
GS- tests have a problem with highlighting. When you highlight a word....all copies of that word get highlighted.
GS verbals that I have taken are mostly reading comprehension and easily answered by going back to the passage.
AAMC tests contain much longer ( physical and biological) passages
Verbal: I did only finished 8 passages.....on a 10 question passage I got 3 right there goes my 11 10, 9.
I had trouble finishing physical science section because it was in pdf and i had to scroll up and down.
I'm writing September 8th MCAt..
Good luck All...including myself |

PEACE ALL,
HERE IS SCORES UP TO JULY 27TH O7.
TPR 1 => 27 PH=7, VR=9, BSC 11
GS4 29 9, 10, 10
GS5 26 9 7 10
TPR2 35 12, 8, 15
GS6 26 10, 7, 9
AAMC6 31 13, 6, 12 .....THIS WAS TODAY
I RUN OUT OF TIME IN ALL SECTIONS OF AAMC 6... MY EXCUSE: TAKING THE PDF FORMAT MAKES IT HARD TO SWITCH B/W PASSAGE AND QUESTIONS.
I thought biology was VERY tough!!
I got a 6 (verbal) on real MCAT before, although my practice tests that year were 3-5!!
Admin, or others: How do you think I can ensure at least a 7 on the real MCAT?? I write on September 8th Thanks |

| Haven't taken 10 yet, but 9 is not too bad. I find the AAMC tests are a lot easier than the GS tests. Can't get anywhere close to 30 on the GS, but I range 32-36 for the AAMC exams. |

| I find my AAMC tests to usually run about 6 pts higher than my GS tests. Hitting anywhere from 26-29 on GS, and probably averaging around a 33 on my AAMC |

AAMC #9 36 13 11 12 -4
Kaplan FL7 31 9 11 11 -9
Kaplan FL6 37 12 13 12 -3
Kaplan FL4 38 13 12 13 -2
GS #1 32 11 9 12 -8
GS #3 39 14 12 13 -1
GS#2 35 12 10 13 -5
GS#4 35 9 14 12 -5
GS#5 35 12 12 11 -5
Kaplan FL2 37 13 12 12 -3
Kaplan FL8 36 13 12 11 -4
GS#6 32 12 9 11 -8
GS#8 33 12 8 13 -7
GS#9 33 12 10 11 -7
AAMC #6 39 13 12 14 -1
(- signs are points off target score of 40)
this is in the order ive taken them
Ultimately there are a few things I have to say:
(1) GS exams are good practice, but for god sakes don't let the scores get you down. They are WAY more difficult than AAMC tests in terms of the questions asked AND in terms of the curve. There may even be some questions that are questionable, but they at least get you thinking about the concepts and used to esoteric questions.
(2) Verbal seems like a freaking curveball to me. Most of the time I'm above 11 but I have been humbled on GS 8 and 9 |

Taking the EK course, wasn't happy with the 5 exams they provide (along with the 16 minimcats which are really just review for each week) so I bought the GS exams.
Here are my e-mcats so far:
3: 11 - 11 - 12 (34)
5: 9 - 9 -10 (2
6: 10 - 9 - 10 (29)
7: 9 - 8 - 9 (26) *this one really pissed me off*
8: 12 - 11 - 12 (35)
Saving 9 and 10 for the next two weekends before my test (April 18th)
Have been going through the GS, planning on Tu night, Friday morning, Saturday morning (maybe Sunday if I don't feel drained)...
GS1: 9 - 8 - 9 (26)
GS2: 9 - 7 - 9 (25)
I found these much more difficult than the e-mcats, even the more recent emcats (7, . When I say harder, I mean that in a good way (except for verbal). The exams definitely point out where you are weak and need to review, and I really like the level of detail in the grading (although I wish it didn't reference the GS book in every explanation).
GS3 tomorrow (sunday), then a break and some studying of areas...18 days (holy crap).
-Casey
EDIT: I should note the order of the e-mcats was 6,7,5,3,8...random I know, but what can ya do? |

So I took about 4 years 'off' after undergrad and then decided to take the mcat this June and started studying in the beginning of April. It was harder than I thought! I needed a lot of review and it didn't go that well at first:
5/8 AMCAS3 28 7-12-9 (PS-VR-BS) untimed
5/10 AMCAS8 29 9-10-10 untimed
5/12 AMCAS7 26 7-11-8
5/14 AMCAS5 27 8-11-8
5/19 AMCAS9 30 10-11-9
5/25 AMCAS10 26 8-11-7
At this point I was extremely frustrated and pushed my test back to July, studied for about a month without taking any tests, then started on the gold standards (usually skipping verbal):
6/26 GS1 27 7-12-8
6/27 GS2 8-9 (PS-BS)
6/29 GS3 11-11
6/30 GS4 10-10
7/1 GS7 6-10
7/2 GS8 7-11
7/3 GS9 8-8
7/5 GS10 9 (PS)
7/6 GS5 9-9
7/8 GS6 9-10
I did about one a day in the week leading up to the test and threw in my last two AMCAS:
7/4 AMCAS4 37 12-12-13
7/9 AMCAS6 34 11-13-10
and then took the real test:
7/10 MCAT 34 11-13-10
I didn't take any course but studied a lot for this thing. My advice is to not give up and keep pushing even if you think you've hit some type of wall and will never get a good score. I found the GS tests very helpful and good practice if you have used up your AMCAS tests too quickly like I did. GS also helped me concentrate on certain difficult areas and skip things like verbal with which I didn't have a problem.
Also, I found the real mcat to be EXTREMELY hard, to the point where I tried to sign up for another date right after I took the test. I was sure I did horribly but I imagine the curve was good and everyone found it very difficult. So good luck and don't void those scores! |

| Can we revive this thread? It's been a while since anyone posted and I'm wondering if GS curves have changed, etc. and how they compare to AAMC now. I will post results when I take a few AAMC tests |
