| I just took verbal test 3 and I was doing well until the last passage where I missed three questions because of time. Anyway, I ended with a 29/40 which gave me an 8. I also have aamca practice test 3,4,5 and I noticed that a 29/40 is usually a 9 or a 10. Are the gold standard practice verbal test designed to be easier than the actual exam and therefore we need more right answers to get a higher score? I guess my real question is how does the difficulty of this test level compare to the actual mcat. |

There is no doubt that the scaled scores are based on bell curves which in turn are based on student performance. Comparing the scales means that on average the GS VR exams are a raw score of about 2/40 easier than the AAMC tests.
But having said that, if you take a look at the General Questions section of this forum, you'll see a thread where students have been comparing their GS MCAT Scores in all sections with their AAMC scores from practice tests. The trend has been that students get higher scaled scores on their AAMC tests. So we believe that our tests are fair, tough and good practice to improve your score on the real thing. |
