Answer choice D cannot be correct because of the word "theories".

The passage does not have the goal to discuss the various possibilities of continental nuclei formation; the passage wants to discuss how the asteroids and meteorites (only those, so no other theory!) influences continental nuclei or continent formation. Answer choice A is correct.
