The paragraph states that "...he makes the occasion of such excellent thoughts, and the starting point of so varied and systematic a teaching, that he even seems like a disciple of Christianity itself"...
a disciple....does that mean an example of Christianity?

Yes, a disciple is a follower of a leader that helps spread his leader's teachings.
Most of the time, a disciple refers to Jesus' (God's son in Christianity) followers. |
