| I think this question is extremely silly. open mouth means oxygen is available and closed means none. |

There is a thread that already exists for every single question on the test. Please do not start a new thread if it is about a specific question.
You said: "open mouth means oxygen is available and closed means none"; well that is exactly the whole point of the question. Bacteria in the mouth must be able to reproduce both in an environment WITH oxygen and in an environment WITHOUT oxygen. By definition, this is called "facultative anaerobe". |

| also, it says that gram positive and gram negative cells dont make a difference. Thats not true...gram positive cells have are more susceptible to lysozyme break down, which is located in the saliva, whereas gram negative bacteria are less susceptible to lysozyme hydrolysis. |

Required thinking out of the box I guess, so you are saying it should be gram-negative ans the answer?
i mean there are certain percentage of ppl who are mouth breathers I would say so technically you can say that obligate anaerobes can also be a choice couldn't you? |
