| If the author does say in the excerpt that "a model...is a tool...which is very useful...in giving an account of such progress," doesn't that mean that the author did in fact mention this "characteristic of a model"? If this is true, why is A the correct answer? |

| also where does it state that the model is a device which is little used in science today???? That is what choice D says, so I presume if thats not the correct answer, that it says this some where in the passage, but i haven't been able to find it |

Answer choice D is not found in the passage, however it is incorrect because that statement is not true. The first sentence of the last paragraph | Quote: | | Many models remain very useful... | contradicts answer choice D. |

??
It asks for a characteristic not mentioned by the author about models. Since it is never stated by the author that a model is little used today then that would be a correct answer. because the statement is not true, ie the author never stated it, that would make the answer correct. From what I got from the question it is asking us which of the following claims were not made by the author. The correct answer they say is A, which states that the model gives an account of progress, and then in the answer explanation it quotes the author saying that it gives an account of such progress. So I would assume that would line up with what the author was saying and would not be incorrect. |
