I undestand the answer. But can someone please explain the following part: #

the solvent pairs given in answer choices C. and D. are incompatible, that is, a compound is usually insoluble in both or soluble in one, but not usually soluble in both of them.

According to the table this is true. Well in that case it makes it that much easier for you to eliminate those answer choices!
