Someone please explain why benzoic acid (with its acidic properties) is not soluble in water and HCl. I understand the answer based on the figure. However, what is the reason behind the insolubility.

| Benzoic acid is mostly an aromatic compound. Even though the carboxylic group is hydrophyllic, its greater component the aromatic ring is highly hydrophobic therefore making it very insoluble in water and HCl. |
