I'm confused. I think the logarithms are confusing me. I don't have the book you referred to in the explanation. Could you explain this in more detail? thanks..!

Judging from your question (and other similar questions from the last couple of weeks), there seems to be a fundamental problem with the way you have decided to prepare for the MCAT.

There are 3 steps to an ideal MCAT preparation: content review, practice problems and then full length tests.

Of course students can use different products, but students who use our materials, we suggest that they start with the Gold Standard MCAT textbook and DVDs (or videos online) for their content review while creating Gold Notes (personal top level notes that you review several times weekly). Then they use the AAMC Official MCAT Guide and the GS online Q & A for practice problems. And finally, once all of that is completed, the 10 GS exams and all AAMC online tests for FL (full length) practice.

So there are 2 very important reasons NOT to ask the question that you asked: (1) you should have studied this material dozens of times already through your content review and continual use of Gold Notes; and (2) you should have already done many practice problems applying this information prior to attempting a FL test.

The problem with using FL tests for "content review" or "practice problems" is that there are limited quality FL tests available. So if you use them when you are really not ready then what are you going to use when you are really ready to do FLs?

Nonetheless, if you don't have the Gold Standard book or some complete review MCAT book, then you can get the rules of logarithms that are important for the MCAT here: www.purplemath.com/modules/logrules.htm

Also, in our Videos section under General Chemistry, you will find the online video named Acids and Bases: Weak which also reviews the rules of logarithms.

Thank you for your insight. If only you could be so quick in answering ALL of the actual MCAT-related questions in the forum and not advise me on how to study for the MCAT. I appreciate it.

Actually, it seems that you have misunderstood the purpose of this Forum. It was created so students can discuss questions with each other. We have only said that we would monitor the Forum to ensure that the discussions remain productive and polite.

We never promised that by purchasing our tests that we will respond to students on an individual basis like a private tutor. We wait to see if there has been a productive interaction and, only recently after some time has passed, we have been providing some additional support. But to be clear, this was never promised and clearly it is an unpaid service. There are companies that charge a lot more and give a lot less.

Thus the free support that we give students goes beyond what was promised. Despite this, we don't want students taking advantage of what we do by using this service as a tutor or to somehow replace their content review. Should that become the case, we will have no choice but to terminate the service.
