where do you get 0.02m from?
the passage says the spring is at 10cm at fully extended and 8cm fully compressed... so i thought the equilibrium position was at 9cm.
i know x is the distance from the equilibrium position so i used 0.01m in this problem (although there werent any answer choices that matched that so i just guessed)
thanks! |

F=-kx.
X signifies the distance away from the EQUILIBRIUM point. If 10cm = the total length of the string, and 8 cm = length of string when compressed you need to subtract the 2 to find the distance from the equilibrium.
10cm-8cm=2cm => .02 m |
