If the lateral traction fibers become stretched during inspiration, then their natural tendency is to "recoil" from the stretched state to their relaxed state. As such, they should be working in the opposite direction to transpulmonary pressure, even though they help increase the airway radius -- like answer D.
How can the answer be that these fibers are working in the same direction?
Please explain. Thanks. |
