Hello,
I would like to make this the official forum where we can share our GS CBTs and how similar they were when we took an AAMC CBT.
For example, I took GS Phys today and noticed it was much much tougher than GS-5 and GS-6. I had to guess on a few.
This forum will help a lot of people who would like to know candid responses concerning the scaled scores and their comparison to the real deal.
So, how did your GS CBT score compare to your recent AAMC CBT? |

Great idea Mathew.
You mentioned that you found GS Phys tougher than GS-5 and GS-6. What did you mean by GS Phys? |

congrats! which GS PS were you scoring 7-8. I scored an 8 on GS-5 on PS and 7 on GS-6 for PS also.
Did you score the 11 PS on the AAMC after you took the GS CBT or before it? Just curious. |

Feel free to compare differences in the BS and VR sections, too. Sorry if I made it seem "PS only" the thread is for all sections of GS CBT compared to all sections of AAMC.
Again, sorry for the confusion. |

I took GS1-9 already... and i scored 7-8 on all of them. I took the AAMC #9 test.
I've been getting 5 or 6 on my verbal.. AAMC score was 7.
I've been getting 8 or 9 on my BS.... AAMC score was 10. |

your scores for GS 1-9 in the PS section are similar to mine 7-8 range.
After doing the PS in aamc 9 cbt, how did you fair? I am about to take the 9 this week. |

| This is actual somewhat pleasing to hear. I plan on taking an AAMC practice test this Thursday and will report back on what scores I recieved. My most recent GS scores were PS: 9, BS: 10, and VR: 8. If the trend follows as it has for you guys then I will likely reach my target score! But perhaps it is to soon to be celebrating. I still have to sit down and take the test. |

Last question:
For all the PS on GS CBT you took, scoring 7-8 did you carefully and discreetly go over each PS GS CBT for ones missed, even some of the hard optics in GS 9? |

Most of them... but only for PS and BS... not for VR.. maybe thats why my VR has not been improving. |

The highest verbal i received was an 8. I think it was aamc 7 (the longer version, though).
My first AAMC back in late July on 3R was a 3. I found that getting used to the AAMC type questions helped me be picky when reading the passage. Because verbal is so important I am only going to use AAMC material.
Though AAMC CBT exams may be limited, for about 1 month I practiced out of AAMC Practice materials and reviewed AAMC 3 and 4 very carefully, that when I took the AAMC 5 (longer version) I received a 7. I was very happy about that. Also I found more AAMC passages to practice on AAMC test 1 and 2. I have yet to finish test 2 for AAMC.
I read with an open ear to the authors tone and his,her points. I used 101 for EK. It did not help me at all. Only their VR and math reasoning booklet has been a help. |

I just took GS CBT 4 for verbal. Received an 8 (30/40).
Dr. Ferdinand,
I noticed that this verbal had a lot of really neat passages like the use of antibiotics for postoperative pneumonia (kinda like a case report) and one on U.S. healthcare vs. Canadian healthcare (though really about HMO).
Is it possible if I can ask if you think that all 7 passages are AAMC variety? The passages really seemed very exciting.
Basically, I wanted to ask if you could take a look at the GS -4 for VR and let me know your opinion of whether it is a fair diagnostic. Also I noticed that a 30 on most AAMC CBTs is really a 10 scaled score.
The score of 30/40 is a huge jump on GS verbal exams for me. I was getting 20-24/40 on your verbal exams. |
