-Is it a big disadvantage to take MCAT in August and apply by sept. when scores come back? Thanks.

#1 importance: getting the best MCAT score that you can possibly get. When you get that score is secondary.

Despite early admissions programs, applying in Sept. is only significant at certain, but not most, institutions. You should call or email the schools which interest you to get their perspective.
