Just wondering, as my exam is just a few weeks away, would I need to memorize all the organic chemistry mechanisms listed in the summary - in the previous post and on the members' home page? (Thanks, by the way, for the summary.)
Otherwise, would it be just sufficient to understand the concepts in the videos and class recordings?
I recently took AAMC CBT 3, my first AAMC practice test, and got an 11 in the BS section. (The parts I missed did not involve mechanisms.) I'm going to do at least 3 more AAMC practice tests (as a gauge). |

For the summary, you are certainly welcome! Most of the mechanisms in that summary can be derived from first principals (electronegativity, opposites attract, etc.). Keeping in mind that your exam might only have 2 orgo passages with a couple of handfuls of independent orgo questions, there is no need for you to try to memorize any of those mechanisms that aren't intuitive to you.
In other words, spend a half hour reviewing whatever you can learn from the summary but the videos, class recordings and your notes are sufficient. I hope AAMC 10 will be one of the 3 that you intend on doing since it is the most recent one. |
