Presumably, the only reason that the US would vote against the condemnation of transnational companies is because those companies were American companies. So the US stood against many other nations who wanted to punish the system of apartheid while stating that the transnationals engaged in legal activities.
But what if US transnationals were actually engaging in illegal activities? If that were the case then the reason given for the negative vote against apartheid would be severely weakened. |
