hello, on the gold standard book page 78. I bought it last year but don't think it is the newest book. it concerns the quantum numbers and under the section for the magnetic quantum number it gives the following example:
when n = 3, and l = 1 (3p notation...)
i thought that l= n-1 which would make it l = 2 and 3d notation.. no? |

l can be 0 to n-1
so if n=3 then l can be 0, 1, OR 2
in this case, they chose to use l=1 as an example of ONE of the orbitals |
