The amount of time required to prepare again depends on a number of factors: (1) your previous MCAT score; (2) your ideal MCAT score; (3) the amount of daily time you have available to study.

Effective creation and review of Gold Notes eliminates the problem of forgetting important information as the exam approaches.

Here is some generic advice:

The solution must be 2 fold: (1) you must perform your review (books and DVDs) and create Gold Notes and (2) you MUST complete the rest of the practice MCAT CBTs from e-mcat.com and from www.mcat-prep.com.

You will find information on creating your own Gold Notes here:

www.mcat-prep.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1574

and also by clicking on Advice on the CBT (Exams) page.

If you are using material from one of the big companies (The Gold Standard or Examkrackers or Kaplan or TPR) then you can stick to that for review. The mistake would be using material from a company with a poor reputation for MCAT prep or trying to combine prep from many different companies. It is also inefficient to stop using prep that is sufficient and trying to embark on something completely different which, in the end, is no better.

The focus, in combination with your "re-review", should be on practice exams (AAMC, GS) and creating effective Gold notes with efficient pre/post practice exam preparation.
