The following graph shows the immune response for an initial injection of HBsAg and a subsequent injection of the HBV virus. Which of the following best explains the differences in the two responses?
1. During the initial response, the immune response was carried out primarily by macrophages and B-lymphocytes.[x]
2. During the secondary response, T-cells possessing membrane receptors, recognized and attacked the viral antigens.[x]
3. Memory cells produced by T- and B-cells during the first exposure made the second response faster and more intense.[x]
4. Memory cells produced by macrophages during the first infection recognized the viral antigens more quickly during the second infection, causing antibody production to be increased.
don't t-cell's not produce memory cells either? |

T-cells do produce memory cells. It says so in the book under the name T-lymphocytes:
“T-lymphocytes learn with the help of macrophages to recognize and attack only foreign substances” (BIO 8.2)
The graph for this question is also a good representation of what happens after a vaccination; the body's response is much greater at the secondary response. |
