Here is the main difference between answer choice B. sarcolemma and C. muscle surface:
(1) As you know, sarcolemma refers to a plasma membrane of a cell; “muscle surface” made you think of a cell but the question never mentions it. In other words, it would have had to say: “surface of a muscle cell.” Otherwise, the meaning of “muscle surface” is presumably the surface of a muscle (gross anatomy; i.e. triceps).
(2) Also, even if it had mentioned “cell,” answer choice B. Would still be more precise because it mentions that the receptor is “in” the cell membrane instead of just on the “surface” of the cell membrane. |
