You must be familiar with gametogenesis in males to answer this question."
Question: What is the detailed steps for gametogenesis? Also I don't understand how the spermatogonia is diploid and not haploid |

Gametogenesis in males is called spermatogenesis.
The first step is for germ cells from the testes to differentiate into spermatogonia (2n) which do mitotic division. The spermatogonia then differentiate and form primary spermatocytes (2n).
Primary spermatocytes occur in prophase of meiosis I. They go through meiosis I in order to form secondary spermatocytes (n).
Secondary spermatocytes then go through meiosis II and form early spermatids (n) which then differentiate and form sperm cells (n). |

The question is asking about "primordial germ cells" therefore the answer is D. spermatogonia.
Consider the word "primordial" as well in the question since it means: first created or developed. |
