how did u get the ratio 12:11 I dont see how this correlates to ratio of 6:5.5

Multiply top and bottom by the number 2. So double 6 is 12 and double 5.5 is 11.

Its very simple my dear.We have a ratio
12:11
it comes from
6:5.5
multiplying both sides with 2
2(6) : 2(5.5)
we will get
12 : 11
