I chose b) transcription because DNA polymerase has proof reading capability whereas RNA polymerase does not.
Pls explain. |

I think it might help to take a step back and consider the definition.
Mutations are changes in the DNA sequence of a cell's genome and are caused by many factors (ie. radiation, viruses, mutagenic chemicals) as well as errors that occur during meiosis or DNA replication.
For example, extra or missing bases can cause the frameshift mutation during replication. The result can be a nonsense or premature stop codon(s) that forms truncated proteins. |

| yeah, also consider that if the rna was messed up, the resultant prot. would either not fold correctly or not be functional. it would be ubiquinated and marked for degredation by the proteosome. For real. But changing the blue prints (ie the dna) would cause all rna transcripts to be screwed up. |
