My initial thought was, historian.
So I picked sociologist, studies society, right?
In reality, Antipater of Sidon was a poet
What's closer to a poet, a general or a sociologist?
I think the latter. |

| I agree. I had the same line of reasoning. I wouldn't imagine an army general would have time to write about these things. Sociologists would be aware of the things held in esteem by different cultures, so it seemed like the best choice. |

Sociology is a relatively new development as an art or science, within the past 200 years, even though there were ancient commentaries on humans and society (such as Plato), we don't call Plato a sociologist. We call Max Weber a sociologist. So to answer "a sociologist" on this question would be an anachronism --out of a temporal framework. If an answer of linguist or professor were up there, the same sort of logic would apply. |
