| In the first CBT question #17 talks about the velocity and refractive index of violet light vs. red light. In the book the equation is v1n2 = v2n1 but in the CBT answer key it uses v1n1 = v2n2. Which is the correct formula? Does it change depending on the question? |

The answer in the exam is correct.
There is a typo in the 2010 Edition of the GS text (oddly, all 15 previous editions had it correct but the transfer to color, somehow it happened).
Here you can confirm the way it should be written: http://theory.uwinnipeg.ca/physics/light/node5.html |
