Format of PS-GS 3 section

Hi,
I was just wondering why the GS3 physical sciences section has 8 passages and only 1 set of discrete sections? The real MCAT PS section will always have 7 passages and 3 sets of discrete questions. I know that it may not seen as a big deal, but putting in the extra passage really threw off my timing.

Thanks for any advice you can give me for adjusting to the GS format.

You are correct that the PS section of the MCAT has, of the 52 total questions, 39 being passaged based (7 passages) and 13 questions being discrete (usually presented as 3 sets).

However, Olympic runners will often practice at higher elevations (lower oxygen) to improve their endurance. Our aim is not that you ace the Gold Standard exams. Our aim is for you to ace the real MCAT. To get you ready, we will do our best to train you to do your best.

Sometimes you will be doing a real MCAT, and with bad luck, you get a few really tough passages at the beginning. How does one handle the 7th passage when there is little or no time left? Practice (ie. increase efficiency, focus on the questions not the passage, more awareness of time during the exam, etc). So sometimes we need to put you in different situations so you can improve all your exam taking techniques.

THIS DOES HAPPEN ON THE MCAT. I just had a friend write it and they told me they got really screwed up with timing because that is exactly what they did. He had 8 physical sciences passages. Good looking out MCAT prep, as this DOES happen
