with the type of problems where the object is moving with circular motion. it makes sense to me that there would be change in velocity becuase there are constant changes in direction, thus there is centripetal acceleration with a centripetal force moving towards the center of the circle.

However I am really confused about what happens when you have a you have in addition to constantly changing direction chnaging speed. I am not really sure what happens here or the forces that you get? And why they are tangental to the circle?

First look at the video for this question (both "Circular Motion" and "Circular Motion Problem". If it is still not clear, please ask again! It's a little difficult to explain tangential acceleration with just words.
