15) What is the wavelength of the radiation emitted when an electron makes a transition from n = 2 to n =1? (RH = 110 000)

1. 82 500 cm
2. 182.82 cm
3. 6.57 x 10-5 cm
4. 1.21 x 10-5 cm

Answer: D

1/(l) = 110 000 x (1/12 - 1/22) = 110 000 x (1 - 1/4)

Apparently, I switched the energy levels in the given formula from the passage. Why is N=1 considered the lower energy level as opposed to N=2?
