This question is really asking for the best answer. When considering a study to control fly pests of animals, ideally, one would try a chemical that prevents the pest from eating (or kill it) and apply it directly to the animal that you want to protect (= the host). So even before looking at the possible answers, you should sort of have the above in mind as a reasonable objective.
Answer choice B takes something that is know to work on pests and it is attempting to apply it directly to the animal that needs to be protected, the host. On the other hand, answer choice C is looking for host attractants/repellents not those of the pests.

Ah I get it. I was also torn between option B and C.
To the other poster, who I assume has long since written his mcat haha, answer choice C mentions HOST attractants and repellents.
If answer C were to be correct, it would need to say PEST attractants and repellents.
I got tricked too!  |
